Mission News

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Acts 1:8

The First Leg of the Vision God has Given Us at Stonebriar

At Stonebriar we believe that God has called us to share the good news about His Son, Jesus Christ, with the world.  For some of us, the Jerusalem spoken of in that verse is our next door neighbor or the people at our office or school. But for others, the Judea and Samaria mentioned means taking the Gospel to those who have never heard the truth of the Word in other countries. Both types of missions work are greatly needed and both are valid.  As a young church, we are honored to have a small part in the lives of the missionaries highlighted below.  Our prayer is that God will allow us to be used, on an even broader scale, in the future.  Please pray for these folks daily!

Meet Your Missionary - Pastor Alfred Otoki - Lagos Nigeria- Pastor Alfred Otoki is a wonderful man of God and is a great friend to the ministry of Stonebriar. He was our first missionary and has been affiliated with Stonebriar since our inception four years ago.  Pastor Alfred is affiliated with Reconciliation Conference Ministries and is building a retreat and respite center in Lagos Nigeria so that those who share Christ, such as circuit riding Pastors, Evangelists, Youth Workers, etc, will have a place to go that is safe and has the minimum comforts.  This will also be used as a teaching center to better educate the Pastors of his country.  Nigeria is struggling through some dangerous times and Christians are being persecuted at an alarming rate by the Muslim majority.  Please pray for Pastor Alfred, his wife Victoria and his family.  Pray for safety, continued vision, necessary funds, and the favor of God.

Adoption of Guatemalan Children: Stonebriar has given birth to twins! A girl Erminia Oloroso Perez, and a boy, Andres Oloroso Perez.  They belong to a Christian family of 8 that live in a palm hut.  The father Guadalupe Oloroso does odd jobs around the village trying to earn a living doing whatever he can. He earns approximately $6 per week / $25 per month......many months not even that. That works out to less than a dollar a day to feed 8 people! The mother's name is Soila Perez de Oloroso.  More information, and hopefully pictures, will be coming in the next few weeks. Thanks for extending yourselves to this family. We hope to one day visit with them in person either here in the States or in Guatemala. Stonebriar’s monthly obligation to assist this family is $60.00. Please pray for God to touch Erminia, Andres, Soila and Guadalupe. If you would like to financially assist this family, please make out a check to Stonebriar and in the memo section write: Guatemalan Children.  Thanks!

It is our desire to provide regular short-term missions opportunities, both at home and abroad, for the congregation and friends of Stonebriar Community Church. If God has pricked your heart regarding missions we hope you'll join us in reaching others with the Good New of Christ. We will be happy to provide the opportunity, conduct the training, coordinate the trip, and assist you in any way possible.

As a new church, missions work is a foundational stone that must be laid early. Pray about joining with us in this exciting new adventure as we share the love of Christ with our neighbors and the world.
